For the past week, there have been wildfires raging in the hills above Palm Springs. At night, you could actually see the flames on the hills from my backyard in Rancho Mirage. Palm Springs was never in danger because there simply is not enough fuel on the bottom of the mountain to reach Palm Springs but the mountain communities that live in San Jacinto Mountains and in Idyllwlyd were evacuated. Luckily, last weekend was rainy in the mountains and the fires are now about 80% contained.I thought I'd share some of the photos I've taken of the fire. The first photo (above) shows the ash and smoke filling the normally clear skies of the desert area and the last two (below) provides a view of the glow from the wildfires at night.
