Last night I witnessed a definitive performance of the American Ballet Theatre's war house Don Quixote at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. It featured the two Russian Superstars of Ballet, Ivan Vasiliev and Natalia Osipova, who is real life are a romantic couple. They are both two of the most technically brilliant dancers I've ever seen. The Royal Ballet of Covent Garden has apparently added Natalia to its roster for next season but wrongheadedly has not done the same with Ivan, probably on the mistaken belief that he would not fit into the Royal Ballet's image of a danceur noble in classical white tight repertoire. What a shame: Ivan could have breathed some real life into the Royal Ballet's stuffy concepts, executions and productions. I'm posting on the Natural City Man blog the complete curtain calls from the evening performance on May 28, 2013. The sudience was clearly enthralled by the performance.

Here are two photos of Ivan that you probably won't find in En Pointe Magazine: shots of Ivan's fabulous ass, as beefy and muscular as one would expect!
