NOM took a punishing loss in the 2012 elections. Marriage Equality easily passed in Maine, Washington, and Maryland and in Minnesota, voters defeated a ballot initiative to ban same-sex marriage in their state constitution. On account of its support for gay marriage in its home state of Washington, NOM has decided to retaliate against Starbucks by attempting to thwart its plans to expand in the Middle East and India. Brian Brown announced that it would attempt to actively campaign against Starbucks in countries in the Middle East that are known to be anti-gay. By so doing, NOM will openly be encouraging violence and terrorist attacks against Starbucks and the Americans who work for Starbucks abroad.
NOM has long alleged that it is not anti-gay, just opposed to same-sex marriage. This move on NOM's part proves otherwise. Since when has it become patriotic for an American organization to knowing place the lives of Americans working at Starbucks in danger? When has encouraging violence abroad against American companies become acceptable? NOM is not only anti-gay, it is anti-American. This is a disgusting, discriminatory campaign directed against innocent Americans and Brian Brown and Maggie Gallagher should be held accountable for any acts of terrorism directed at Starbucks on account of their campaign of hate.
