The hottest new tenor to play the Metropolitan Opera House in a very long time is German-born Jonas Kaufmann. Talk about bedroom eyes! With a touch of the bad boy about him, he breaths new life into such diverse operatic repertoire as Faust, Carmen, Madame Butterfly and Der Rosenkavalier and I'm sure he would kill in South Pacific. Possessing a dark tenor voice that is amazingly flexible, he is equally at home in Wagner, as in Puccini and Verdi. I'm including two excerpts here, one of the tenor aria from Der Rosenkavalier and the other from Faust. Enjoy!
